Karen Elger – Fylde West
It is always vital that the Council hears the voices of local constituents but even more so during times where more and more people are facing hardship. My background of working as a teacher, and now for a trade union, has taught me that everyone should be provided with an opportunity to be heard. I hold personal values that are aligned with those of Labour and so I know that communities are stronger where people are all equally encouraged to listen to one another, work together and learn from one another. I have lived in the Fylde for just under a decade and so I have seen the impact that cuts to local public services have had over this time – it has damaged the trust and cohesion of local communities. From my experience, it takes a listening ear, followed by determined action and clear communication to rebuild trust amongst communities. This is why I am standing as your Labour candidate for Fylde West.
